The problem

Grease in the hood is a real hazard, not just dirt

In a commercial kitchen, grease builds up in the hood, the filters and above all in the extraction ducts, where you cannot see it. That grease layer is the leading cause of fires in hospitality kitchens and the first thing a health inspection looks at. Cleaning only the surface of the hood does not solve the underlying problem.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How are extractor hoods cleaned?
Filters are removed, the ducts are accessed and an industrial degreaser is applied to dissolve the grease. Then the motor, grilles and stainless steel are cleaned. The difference from a home clean is that we reach the inside of the duct, which is where the real risk sits.
How much does extractor hood cleaning cost?
A small bar hood starts from around EUR 90. A restaurant kitchen with several metres of ducting is quoted individually after inspection, because the price depends on size and grease level. The quote is free and fixed.
How often should a restaurant clean its hood?
It depends on kitchen volume. A kitchen with a lot of frying or grilling needs duct cleaning every 3 to 6 months. A lower-volume venue can space it to once a year. We recommend the right frequency during the inspection.
Is duct cleaning mandatory?
Safety and hygiene regulations require keeping the extraction system clean to prevent fires and meet HACCP. That is why we issue a dated cleaning certificate, which is what both the health inspection and your insurer will ask for.
How do you remove grease from a kitchen hood?
With industrial-grade degreasers and hot pressurised water on the filters, never with household products that do not dissolve carbonised grease. Duct grease needs technical access and specific tools, not just a cloth.
Do you have to stop the kitchen to do the cleaning?
No. We work at night or outside your service hours so you open the next day with everything clean and without losing a single day of business.
