What counts as normal wear?
It depends on your contract and how long you lived there. Small marks of use after five years are normal; the same marks after six months are judged differently.
Do plug holes come out?
Filling and sanding is repair rather than cleaning. We point them out so you can do it the day before; a filled hole counts for considerably less at an inspection.
Can a scratch in the worktop be removed?
Not by cleaning. On some materials polishing helps and that is a different trade; we say so beforehand so you are not surprised on the morning of the handover.
